One festival native to Johnson City is the Blue Plum Festival. The Blue Plum is a great place to listen to fantastic live music at Founder’s Park and take part in arts and crafts of all sorts. A few other things the Blue Plum has to offer is various kiosks of local vendor’a and their wares with food trucks of all kinds.

The original Blue Plum Festival was in downtown Johnson City. The festival attendees would walk up and down Main Street listening to great music. It was a great setup and everybody loved it. The Festival would prove to be a lucrative opportunity for the business owners downton until the city decided to relocate the festival to a park essentially downtown but away from all the bars and businesses. Once the move occured the downtown businessess got together and created a festival dedicated to beer and music. This festival is called the Little Chicago and Fine Arts Festival.

In addition to those to those festivals in downtown Johnson City is the Umoja Unity Festival. That festival focuses on diversity with a strong emphasis on African American culture and African history.
